The Total Extreme Wrestling series can be really daunting at first glance, there is a TON of depth and attention to detail. You can be hired/fired from promotions and in later games in the series you can even form your own promotion.

Plus you get the fun task (ha) of dealing with egos and backstage drama.

You also work to make sure the promotion is making money, so you'll be in charge of merchandise, getting and maintaining a TV deal, running PPVs and more. You book shows, hire/fire wrestlers, create angles and book the matches themselves. You basically work as a booker for a wrestling promotion. Total Extreme Wrestling is a branch of an old freeware series called Extreme Warfare Revenge (both along with Wrestling Spirit are made by Adam Ryland). Last but not least, you can create either a male or a female character as the Rookie To Legend mode is fleshed out for both of them. There is also a fatigue/locational damage system in place which can affect the dice roll and what you and your opponent can do at times. The actual matches are the meat and potatoes of the game and utilizes a dice roll to figure out whether you're attacks connect or if you're reversals work. When creating your character you can decide what type of wrestler they are and their size, both determine what moves you can use, as well as giving certain bonuses. Wrestling Spirit features a Rookie To Legend mode that allows you to create a wrestler and work your way up through the indie ranks to getting signed by major promotions to becoming a star, along with your more traditional gameplay modes.

I'm a big fan of the Wrestling Spirit and Total Extreme Wrestling series, both by Grey Dog Software. What are your favorite text based games and developers of them? Text based games (especially managerial ones) don't get talked about very often nowadays (did they ever?) so here's a one stop shop thread for them.
